About

Nic Der is a multidisciplinary designer and photographer in New York. His work intersects fashion, furniture and object with a strong emphasis on craft.

An Oakland native, he studied Architecture at UC Berkeley before moving to Rhode Island in 2013 to pursue a Master of Industrial Design.

In 2015 Nic began at Lotuff Leather as Studio Designer and Photographer. He worked side by side with the Creative Director to design both men’s and women’s collections each season, developed samples and onboarded production. As the in-house photographer, he shot lookbooks and campaigns and assisted with art direction and styling. He also headed the Bespoke program, consulting with individual clients to create on-of-a-kind leather pieces. His work at Lotuff has appeared in Vogue, GQ, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Conde Nast Traveler, Esquire, Refinery 29 and others.

Nic recently founded his own leather accessories brand, Der Leather, and teaches Industrial Design at RISD.
